Jack James Preschool is a unique program that operates as part of the Grade 11 and 12 Child Care Program of studies at Jack James High School. At the same time, the Preschool models a quality early childhood program for 3 and 4 year old children and provides a valuable service to the community. We offer a safe and positive environment staffed with caring, qualified teachers and grade 11 and 12 high school students earning an Alberta Government Childcare Assistant Certification.
The preschool is a structured two hour, two day per week program offering individual and group activities including free play, crafts, story time, snack, games and outdoor play time. Children are provided with opportunities throughout the morning to enhance physical, social, emotional, cognitive, creative, and language development.
The Preschool program provides quality early childhood education and care for children. Jack James Preschool facilitates the development of independence and self-esteem through a wide variety of activities and experiences, leading to the understanding of different feelings and creating a foundation for self-regulation and school readiness.
