Welcome to Rockabye Daycare

Our Centre:

Our Renfrew Dr centre is designed and dedicated for children between the ages of 1 to 3.5 years of age. We focus our curriculum towards early development and discovery learning. The first three years have a strong impact on the approaches to learning. They are the foundation for healthy development and curiosity that provide improved when transitioning to preschool or kindergarten.

Our aim at Rockabye Daycare Calgary, is to provide a safe and happy environment where children can grow and learn under the guidance and supervision of our dedicated and caring staff. We hope to fulfill each Childs physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs, whilst showing them kindness, consistent discipline, and encouragement in a happy and informal setting.

We have designed our program to provide opportunities to foster the personal development and well-being of each child to help him/her to create and maintain supportive relationships and become an active and responsible citizen in society. The Early Years of one’s childhood only happens once in a lifetime. We at the Rockabye Daycare believe that we need to make each one of those moments count. The first six years are the stepping-stones to what can be a healthy and loving life. At Rockabye Daycare, we believe in the nourishment and positive learning experience for young children. We will provide a caring and beneficial environment based on respect, attention and care for the children and help the development of the Child’s sense of independence and self-esteem.

What We Do Monday – Friday:

At the Rockabye Daycare we follow the Early Years curriculum which aims to help young children achieve the five Every Child Matters outcomes of staying safe, being healthy, enjoying and achieving, making a positive contribution and achieving economic well being. We provide a safe and happy environment which allows all our children to explore and experiment using their own ideas. All our children are given encouragement and support, enabling them to learn at their own pace through their play.

Each morning the children have the opportunity to do craft activities based on the current topic. The topic chart will be on display on the notice board in the entrance hall to enable you to talk about the topics at home and bring in relevant articles, books or pictures, which helps the children to gain more fun and interest from the sessions.

We begin the morning with circle time – discussion about the current topic, the weather etc. During the Daycare sessions children are able to choose from a wide range of activities. Through play we are working towards the early learning goals with the children so the activities available will encourage their development in all these areas. Children’s ideas and interests are welcomed and encouraged – they will learn more and want to explore ideas when they have a personal interest in the activity.

After freeplay the children are encouraged to help tidy the toys away. Then we sit in a circle and sing rhymes and songs for approximately 10 minutes, before going into story time.

After story time the children leaving at half-day will be seated in the rainbow room ready for their parents / carers to collect them. At the end of the day the children will be seated at the tables with their work, lunch boxes etc placed on the table in front of them.

Your child will have a diary which we will write in each day – how they have settled, what they have been playing etc. Parents are welcome to write in this diary – days out, interests etc – we can use this information at Daycare when talking to your child and when planning activities.

The children will take it in turns to bring an animal home (monkey, lion etc) to look after. They will keep him for one week, returning him to Daycare on the same day of the following week. There will be a diary in the bag should you wish to write comments about the weeks events – what he has eaten, going shopping etc. Your child will have the opportunity to talk about his week looking after the animal at circle time.
